What Are I-Tip Hair Extensions?
I-Tip extensions, also known as Stick Tip or Micro Bead extensions, use a strand-by-strand method. This technique is permanent and requires no glue or heat, making it one of the least damaging options. Each strand weighs about 1g and is made from 100% human hair. The keratin bonds at the tip are shaped like the letter “I.”
During installation, a stylist threads the client’s natural hair through a small silicone-lined bead. They then insert the I-Tip and clamp it tight with pliers. This creates a secure hold while allowing 360° natural movement and a lightweight feel.

With proper care, I-Tip extensions last 6–8 weeks before needing a salon adjustment. Since microbeads are near the roots, the extensions slide down as hair grows. With good maintenance, you can reuse the hair for over a year.
What hair types are best for I-Tips?
I-Tip extensions work well for most hair types, especially medium to thick hair. Thin or very fine hair may struggle to cover the small microbeads. For clients with moderate to thick hair, I-Tips provide the best natural and long-lasting results.
Do I-Tip extensions damage natural hair?
