What is a Flat Tip?
Flat Tip, also known as K-Tip Extensions, is a type of pre-bonded, fusion hair extension that uses a keratin bond for semi-permanent installation. It is made with 100% human hair and Italian keratin. The tip is flat, with a standard bond size of approximately 7 mm × 10 mm. Each strand usually weighs around 1 g.
The flat and discreet connection point provides a secure hold while keeping the attachment lightweight and comfortable. Each strand can move freely in 360 degrees, allowing the extensions to blend naturally with the client’s own hair and create an almost invisible extension effect.
How is Flat Tip installed?
Flat Tip is usually installed by a professional hairstylist. Before installation, the stylist will evaluate the client’s hair type, hair length, color, and desired extension result. Based on these factors, the stylist will determine the required number of strands, color combinations, and installation areas.
During installation, the stylist separates a small section of the client’s natural hair and places it together with the Keratin Bond at the top of the Flat Tip strand. Depending on the client’s hair condition, scalp sensitivity, and installation area, the stylist usually keeps a distance of about 0.5–1 cm between the bond and the scalp.
A professional keratin heating tool is then used to heat the overlapping area, softening the Keratin Bond completely. Before the keratin cools, the stylist gently rolls and shapes the softened bond with the thumb and index finger, creating a smooth, compact, and secure connection point.
Once the keratin has fully cooled and hardened, the Flat Tip strand is firmly attached to the natural hair.
How is Flat Tip made?
Flat Tip is mainly made from human hair and Italian keratin. Before production, workers sort, organize, and match the color of the raw hair according to the order requirements. The hair is then prepared based on the required total weight, color mixing ratio, and long hair ratio to create a complete bundle for processing.
Before making the Flat Tip strands, workers place color-matched keratin granules into a special heating machine to fully melt them. The keratin is kept warm to maintain a smooth and liquid state.
To create a single Flat Tip strand, workers take a suitable amount of hair from the prepared bundle and use an electronic scale to measure approximately 1g.
The melted keratin is then evenly applied to the top of the hair strand. Before the keratin cools, the strand is placed into a special metal mold designed for Flat Tip and pressed into shape. After the keratin fully cools and hardens, a flat rectangular Keratin Bond is formed at the top of the hair strand.

Flat Tip has a small and lightweight connection point that sits close to the natural hair. When combined with a Keratin Bond color that matches the client’s hair and proper sectioning during installation, the bonds are difficult to notice. They can blend naturally with the client’s own hair.
